Weekend in Vegas, Wreck on the Way: Crash, Jail, and What San Diego Families Do Next

San Diego families do this drive all the time. Friday night on I-15. A hotel on the Strip. A ride-share across town. Then a phone call that is not the one you wanted: there was a wreck, and somebody is in custody.

Two places, two clocks

If the booking is in San Diego County, we can usually start a bond as soon as we have the name and the jail.

If the crash was in Las Vegas or anywhere else in Nevada, the injury claim lives under Nevada rules. Different courthouse. Different insurance minimums. Different deadline.

That is how a single night turns into:

  • a bail file in California, and
  • a car accident file in Clark County.

They do not cancel each other out. They also do not finish each other.

How these nights usually start

We hear the same outlines:

  • A rear-end on I-15 near Primm or Jean. One person is cited or booked. The other is in an ambulance.
  • A rideshare or taxi crash after a show. The driver is being questioned. A passenger from San Diego has a concussion.
  • A DUI stop that began as a fender-bender in a casino garage.
  • A hit-and-run where Metro or NHP is looking for one car, and your person is already in a holding tank.

Nobody plans for that mix. You do not need a perfect story to call us. You need a name, a location, and a phone.

What we handle (and what we don’t)

We handle the release.

We do not settle the wreck.
We do not talk to Nevada adjusters. We do not pull the LVMPD or NHP crash report for a lawsuit. We do not value a neck injury.

If somebody is hurt — passenger, other driver, pedestrian, or your own person who went from the ER to booking — that is a car accident case. If it happened in Vegas, it belongs with a Nevada crash lawyer.

Do this in order

  1. Safety and medical care. If they should be in a hospital, they go to a hospital.
  2. Find out where they are booked. Jail name matters more than a guess.
  3. Call Alana’s if you need a California bond. We will tell you what we can post and what we need from you.
  4. Get the crash number. Metro and Nevada Highway Patrol reports take days. Write down the number the officer gave you.
  5. Save photos, Uber receipts, hotel names, and witness numbers. Those disappear faster than people think.
  6. Do not give a recorded statement to an insurance company while someone is still in shock or still in custody.
  7. If the wreck was in Nevada, call a Vegas crash lawyer the same week. Not after the last criminal hearing.

Why the Vegas injury file cannot wait on the criminal case

Families tell us, “We’ll deal with the hospital bills after court.” That is how tow-yard evidence and doctor notes get sloppy.

A Nevada car accident claim is about medical bills, missed work, and who pays. A criminal case is about the charge. You can work both. You often should work both.
